Located in the Capital Region of New York State in world-renowned Saratoga Springs, summer home of New York Racing Association "The Summer Place to Be," the Saratoga Springs Fire Department is a fully-paid professionally staffed department, providing  Fire/Rescue and Emergency Medical Services to the citizens and visitors of Saratoga Springs. The Saratoga Springs Fire Department covers approximately 29 square miles with a population of about 29,000 which nearly doubles to 50,000 during the summer months. This is accomplished utilizing 2 Paramedic Engines and 1 Tower Ladder. We provide Paramedic level first response using  23 Paramedics, 2 Critical Care Technicians, 13 EMT-Intermediate and 14 EMT's. The Saratoga Springs Fire Department provides mutual aid upon request to the surrounding area and in cooperation with Saratoga County, maintains and responds with the County Hazardous Materials Unit HM-554. All of our members are Certified Firefighter II's and several are New York State Fire Instructors. We also have several members and one type-1 Disaster Search Canine who are assigned to New York Task Force 2, the State Urban Search and Rescue Team. We are members of the  New York State Professional Fire Fighters Association and the International Association of Fire Fighters . Our membership consists of the following:

The department is divided into four groups: 1 Captain and up to 8 fire fighters housing the Lake Ave Station and 1 Lieutenant and 3 fire fighters housing the West Ave Station. 2 Lieutenants are assigned to the Fire Inspection Office. Our work schedule is 24 hours on duty, 72 hours off duty. The Fire Department also has a Chief and an Assistant Chief who are management and not members of this union.
